Hey there, homeschool mama! We hope you and your family are having an amazing summer so far! For many of us, summer is full of fun and camps and kid-led learning (and maybe finishing up a few textbooks). I know Valentine’s Day is nearly a month away, but if you’re anything like me – a procrastinator – and you want to plan a party for your homeschool group or a small group of friends, consider this a friendly reminder to start thinking about it now. I usually start thinking about it around February 7. I don’t recommend that approach.

We haven’t done a homeschool Valentine’s Day party in several years, but when my kids were younger, they used to love our annual gathering, which started with just a small group of friends and grew larger each year.

15+ Picture Books I’m Saving for the Grandkids

Are your children old enough yet that you are starting to stockpile things for your future grandkids? I kept a few of my daughters’ and son’s clothes, a few favorite toys (including an old toy barn that probably every American kid in existence has had at one time or another), and even a few teething toys and rattles they all loved when they were babies.

Then, there are the books. I’ve got a collection that I can’t wait (well, okay, I can wait) to read to my grandkids someday.

A couple of weeks ago, Josh told me that he liked all the meals I’d fixed for supper the previous week. No, it wasn’t because I’m such a fantastic cook. He liked them because they made easy leftover meals for taking to work.

I still took it as the compliment it was though because all the meals were also simple to prepare and stuff that the whole family likes to eat.

Easy and effective. Those are my kind of meals.
