Happy Friday, Y’all! How was your week? What fun things did you guys do this week? Did you try any of the experiments or activities I posted last week? Please share with me which ones and what you thought of them!! This week my hubby had a birthday and honestly, it was like every other day in our household. Normal. And busy. Not only were we skipping the birthday party, but we didn’t even have a birthday cake! We did cook the meal he requested, which really is not much. Is this what birthdays will look like when we have an empty nest? I read an article the other day that said people stop celebrating birthdays around 37 (and start lying about their age). So I have a question that I really want you to comment and answer… do you and your spouse still celebrate your birthdays?

Last week was Prime Day (really two days) and it was a pretty busy week. So many of our friends wanted to support us and chose to buy their items through our links. For that, Wendy and I want to sincerely thank you! We love supporting you guys and appreciate it when you go out of your way to bless us! We even had some people disable their smile accounts so we could get credit for the deals I was sharing! Seriously. We are so humbled and so thankful for that!  And I was able to get caught up on a little on sleep this week (although the Sleep Foundation tells me that it is not possible to catch up… but I do feel more rested this week). But the point being, I wanted to be sure you all know that I’m still posting deals in the Frugal group.  That group literally has grown by 25% in the last 28 days… so I guess the deals I’m posting must be helping because so many of our members are bringing their friends and family into the group! And I’m just getting warmed up! We are about a month out from Black Friday, and I’m already working on the deals! So if you want some help finding great deals, join me over in the Frugal Group!

Keeping It Real!

I had a sweet friend reach out to me this week and ask me how I get it all done. I told her the truth… I don’t. She is such a great mom and woman of God. She has has taken in traumatized children from a family member. And honestly, this friend is traumatized too. Do you have any great tips or tricks that you would share with her to encourage her and to tell her she is not alone?

I’m sure I can’t be the only one who has clothes that need to be washed, a dishwasher that needs to be unloaded, a desk that looks like a tornado struck and honestly, I haven’t even gotten a shower yet today.

I hope I’m not the only one.

And I don’t even have young kiddos at home!

And yes, I had pizza for lunch to top it all off! Cauliflower pizza… but still!

Did you notice the boxes on my desk? Could you even find them with all the junk there? Anyway, those came out of the box like that. Squished. Thank goodness the product inside is individually wrapped, so they were fine. And we got bonus materials this time from Amazon. I have no idea what that bag of metal objects is used for … but hey, they were in my box!!

Wins!

So now that I’ve shown the world my messy desk, I think I’ll move on to the wins category! 🙂 My husband works for the university that my kids attend. My middle son works in student life on campus as his work/study program. This afternoon my hubby received a phone call from my son’s boss… he was bragging on his work ethic and what a pleasure my son is to work with! Yes, it made this mama so proud!!

Community.

If you saw my article last week, you already know how the Weird Unsocialized  Homeschoolers’ Facebook Community is growing. We have been getting to know each other by answering fun, random questions.  Some of the questions have been challenging too … like “What will be the deciding factor for you to determine if your homeschool was successful?” We got tons of GREAT thoughts on that one. It was my favorite for the week! Some questions, like “What is your homeschool style?” made me want to read the comments to see how others homeschool. And others were just fun like “What is your favorite movie?” If you would like to feel less lonely on this homeschool journey, we hope you will join the group and meet some other Weird, Unsocialized Homeschooers!!

Great Homeschool Resources:

If you have a child who hates writing, this resource might help you determine what is going on. Or this one that focuses on writing reports like a journal… which I happen to love!

Here’s how you can get a Free Digital Magazine from Homeschooling Today! One of our favorite writers, the one and only Kris Bales (the former owner of Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers) has an article in there! Go check it out!

Did you just leave public school? Or is your homeschool just not flourishing yet?  Deschooling might the answer.

We traveled down to Alabama to celebrate with them! Eli’s family owns SKrafty, our favorite Homeschool Minecraft Server and now they offer some of our favorite online classes too!  Eli teaches a fun Ukulele class on SKrafty, by the way!
